The Run for the White House
More than 1,000 people have filed to run for President of the United States. You probably haven’t heard of 99% of them. Actually you probably haven’t heard of 99.9% of them. You have to wonder why they file.
You probably also haven’t heard of many of the “political parties” listed, such as The Peace and Freedom Party, the American People’s Freedom Party, The American Independent Party, The U.S. Taxpayers Party, The People Over Politics Party.
There are more, many more. The most surprising is that one person filed as a candidate for The Communist Party. By my count, there are 131 candidates filing as “Independent” and that includes five filing as members of The American Independent Party and two filing as members of the American Independent Conservative Party.
There’s another 103 filing as “Nonpartisan” and another 23 as “Unaffiliated.” For the record, as stunning as the number is, that is about the same as filed in 2020. Also based on the 2020 election, be prepared for the formal announcements of ‘real’ candidates to start in March and April of this year.
